Danish furniture designer, Hans J. Wegner was a pioneer of Organic Furniture. He created natural shapes with practical applications which undoubtedly turned heads to the people of the 19th century.
His high quality and thoughtful work, along with a concerted effort from several of his manufacturers, contributed to the international popularity of Danish design.
Designed in 1949, The Chair is a classic example of traditional craftsmanship. The clean wood design is stripped to its bare essentials, a natural rattan braided seat resting on four tapered legs. The empty space that separates the back from the seat, gives the piece elegance and makes it one of a kind.
